I have had many successful teeth cleanings with my dental hygienist! I haven’t had any cavities or issues with my teeth since 2011. Everything has been going well and I wanted to share some of the products I have found that have been helpful for me since being diagnosed with Sjögren’s syndrome.
Biotene products were introduced to me by my dental hygienist in 2011. At that time I had a really dry mouth as well as several cavities! I had no idea how to address these issues and was very happy to find something that worked well for me. Biotene has a line specifically for dry mouth.
The first product I used was the Dry Mouth Oral Rinse. I followed the recommendations on the bottle and this helped me so much! I felt relief as well as comfort. It really made a difference and improved my dry mouth. I even carried it with me during the day so I could rinse as needed for relief.
Another great product is the Dry Mouth Fluoride Toothpaste. Together with the oral rinse and the Moisturizing Mouth Spray they helped me to manage my mouth well.
I haven’t used the Oral Balance Gel, but my dental hygienist highly recommended it and has had great feedback from those who have used it!
A very important product everyone should use is the Act Total Care for Dry Mouth Fluoride. This is recommended for those with a dry mouth to help with added prevention of cavities. I use this as recommended by my dental hygienist.
My mouth has been good for the last couple of years. I will use the oral rinse occasionally as I need it and continue with the Act Fluoride daily. I always drink lots of water and try to carry a bottle with me too. When I work out I will chew sugarless gum to prevent my mouth and throat from getting dry.
These products can be found in stores and sometimes are behind the counter. You can check out the Biotene products at http://www.biotene.com/.
Remember to brush your teeth with a soft bristle toothbrush, floss regularly and clean your teeth as recommended by your dentist and dental hygienist. It is important that everyone take care of their teeth and gums! Regular checkups, teeth cleaning and daily care make a big difference in the health of your mouth.
Prevention is the key to keeping your teeth and gums healthy!
Please make sure you discuss your options with a dental hygienist or dentist at your next visit. Everyone has different needs and it’s important to figure out what works for you!
Take care!
